This year the year 4’s went to the KICS Field to spend the night in the great outdoors. The trip started by trying to fit all their stuff in the school provided backpack. We all had new backpacks and the 40L backpack worked really well. The students managed to go around the school campus without falling down or complaining about their backs.
Around 11am we took the buses to the stables in which they hiked from the main entrance to the field where they were involved in a treasure hunt and a cuddle sessions with the horses.
We pitched our tents when we were back at school. Setting up the tent required true collaboration and communication. The girls did really well and had to help the boys with setting up their tent.
As the night fell the students prepared their meals on a small little stove. It's always surprising what students can produce and eat after a day of activities. We finished the day with a game of “torch tag”, this game has probably been the best game they played in a while.
The sun rises early in Sudan so at 6am the students were running around and at 8am we had packed up everything. Breakfast was served and a few games were played before we headed back to the classrooms.
The students came home very tired, but happy! It was so much fun!
